It was just an ordinary drill weekend for Scott in May of 2009 until he walked in and met me. Of course he didn't waste any time in getting my number that day and our friendship began from there. A year later on June 21, 2010 Scott asked me to be his girlfriend and that was just the beginning of many wonderful memories to come. One of our best memories was our free cruise to the Bahamas courtesy of Bud Light in December of 2010 including many hours in the sun, a Nelly concert on the beach, and plenty of free beer! As a couple we have enjoyed many days of hiking and fishing, attended numerous Cardinals games (inlcuding a World Series game in 2011), and motorcycle rides whenever the weather is nice in Illinois.
Our biggest year yet has been 2012! On February 29, we closed on our new house and within a month completed a few remodeling projects and moved in. A few weeks later, I came home from work on an ordinary Thursday afternoon and as always picked up Penny to find a string tied around her neck. Due to Penny's extremely long hair I didn't realize what else was on that string until Scott came around the corner in a suit and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Several joyful tears later I said yes and we were officially engaged on April 5, 2012. As if that wasn't enough excitement we left the next morning for St. Louis to pick our newest addition to our family, a sheltie we rescused named Dakota. |
We spent the summer discussing several different ideas for our wedding while everyone kept asking if we had set a date yet. Scott wanted a beach wedding from the start but I was stubborn and wanted to see what options we had for a wedding in Peoria. I researched several extremely high priced venues, but finally made an appoinment to look at one and hopefully set a date only to be stood up by the venue manager as we waited outside for almost an hour in 104 degree weather! That was the final straw and I told Scott to go ahead and call his friend who was a travel agent to book our beach wedding!
A week later we met with the travel agent and planned the whole wedding in an hour and finally set a date. We are getting married in Montego Bay, Jamaica on April 27, 2013 at 11am.
We have decided to keep our wedding small and include the wedding party and immediate family with us in Jamaica. However, we wish to include everyone in a reception in Peoria, Illinois to celebrate our marriage shortly after our return back home. |
